Today for our 80th episode, we will talk with Britney Muller, SEO and Content Architect at Moz, and founder of Pryde Marketing.
This is one of those classic stories of a woman grows up in Minnesota, moves to Colorado to become a ski bum, becomes an SEO expert, and then gets one of the most coveted jobs on the planet. You know, pretty standard stuff.
Just kidding, and obviously there is a lot to unwind from that introduction.
Like why is Minnesota so awesome?
Or why would one care about SEO, when they can snowboard all day?
I know what you’re thinking. “Wait a minute, I thought that Cyrus Shepard, who you interviewed in episode 5, was the SEO at Moz?”
And I promise that we will address all of those questions during this episode.
But first I wanted to talk about Britney Muller as a person. I first came into contact with Britney on Twitter, after she heard my interview on Dan Shure’s podcast. She said it was her favorite episode of Dan’s podcast of all time. And I was like “what’s wrong with you?”
Thankfully, I didn’t say that out loud. I just took the compliment and said “Booya!” to myself, as we Minnesotans tend to say.
(side note, this is the second interview in a row that mentions the Evolving SEO Podcast. Also, I have since been usurped as Britney’s favorite guest, and replaced by Stephanie Briggs. Time to get Stephanie on the podcast, right?)
Ok, so Britney and I met in person this summer at the MnSearch Summit, and I have to say that she’s equally as awesome in person as her online persona. I’m not going to share the details of the late night shenanigans that happened after the conference, other than to say I had great chats with many future podcast guests sitting at a large Biergarten style table at New Bohemia Wursthaus in downtown Saint Paul. If you ever have trouble booking podcast guests, you just need to stay up longer.
Back to Britney. She’s a heck of a podcast guest as well. Listen on as we talk about machine learning, the guest posting process at Moz, and some of the cool SEO experiments Britney is running at Moz.
