Today for our 63rd episode, I wanted to give an insider perspective on our process for hiring an apprentice, which has been happening here at Jeffalytics over the past few months.
Not only that, but I wanted to give some general insider information on what a hiring manager/business owner goes through when hiring for digital marketing positions.
I’ve written about the hiring process several times before, but this is the first time I’ll be talking about it on the podcast. This is going to be a free-flowing type episode, where I go through my top 10 bullet point list without a lot of notes within.
The truth is that I’m recording this episode rather last minute, because I spent last week on a road trip throughout Portugal seeing this wonderful country. We made it south to a small island in Algarve, east to Spain (by accident) and north to Vinho Verde country. We went through harsh drought conditions and 100+ degree weather, smelled the salt water, sunscreen and sand of Farol island and even managed to stay in an ancient tower, perched above a vineyard in Vila Verde.
And I did it all while only managing to open my Laptop for about 15 minutes total. It was equal parts disconnecting and poor Internet – with the only connection coming from a tethered 2g network. I’m not going to lie – it was nice to disconnect. And it was nice to have our interview with Sujan Patel locked and loaded well before I headed out on this trip. Three cheers for organization!
Listen up for 10 things I have learned from hiring over the years, plus an inside look at the apprenticeship process:
